Oh dear! When I heard from my psoriasis buddies (Yes, I do have psoriasis buddies) that deodorants contain aluminum and that aluminum is definitely not good for psoriasis sufferers... I just had to do some research.
I read "Unlike vitamins, minerals, and trace elements, the body does not need aluminum. And aluminum is no innocent or benign participant. Aluminum accumulates in the kidneys, brain, lungs, liver and thyroid where it competes with calcium for absorption and can affect skeletal mineralization. In infants, this can slow growth."
Oh, there is more... "Aluminum-containing antiperspirants prevent toxins from being expelled by the body. " Oh and it has been linked with the onset of Alzheimer's disease and even breast cancer...but I am more concerned with adding anything to my skin that is considered "not good".
So I immediately tossed my trusty deodorant into the trash bin and headed off into town in search of a healthy alternative.
And I found these! Hypoallergenic, no Aluminum Chlorohydrate & Paraben Free!
Brilliant!! Don't you just love it when you find that someone is on top of it all. They have already addressed this problem and created this wonderful product. USA made - but I found it on the shelf at my local chemist store here in the rural far north of New Zealand.
My favorite, the Lavender and White Tea.. smells divine. I can hardly believe it's a deodorant.
